Employment

Operations at the James and Redmond mines are expected to commence in June 2010. Approximately 100 people will be employed at the mine and the nearby beneficiation plant located at the Silver Yard, mainly working for Labrador Iron Mines' contractors and sub-contractors.

LIM will operate the James and Redmond mines according to its Newfoundland and Labrador Benefits Plan (the "Plan") approved by the government of Newfoundland and Labrador. Under the Plan LIM is committed to ensuring the majority of job opportunities are available to residents of Newfoundland and Labrador. Consistent with the Plan, LIM is committed to achieving a 25% aboriginal participation and 15% minimum initial participation by women.
