Fish Habitat Compensation: Summary
The James Mine, in operation since June 2011, is situated immediately adjacent to a small unnamed tributary that contains brook trout. Mining operations required the removal of a section of this unnamed tributary and as a condition of the authorization under the Fisheries Act LIM, is required to compensate for this lost fish habitat. The accepted concept to replace the lost habitat is to modify a section of Redmond Creek that is very uniform and linear and very poor fish habitat. The design concept will provide for the construction of 1,500 m2 of high quality fish habitat for brook trout. LIM will be contracting the construction of fish habitat in the summer of 2013. All work must be completed by September 15, 2013. |
| [Fr] La mine James, en fonctionnement depuis Juin 2011, est située juste à côté d'un petit affluent sans nom qui contient l'omble de fontaine. Les opérations minières nécessitent l'enlèvement d'une partie de cet affluent sans nom comme condition de l'autorisation en vertu de la Loi sur les pêches LIM. Le concept accepté pour remplacer l'habitat perdu consiste à modifier une partie de Redmond Creek qui est très uniforme et linéaire et pauvre comme habitat pour le poisson. Le concept permettra la construction de 1.500 m2 de l'habitat du poisson de haute qualité pour l'omble de fontaine. La construction de l'habitat du poisson sera effectuée durant l'été 2013. Tous les travaux doivent être terminés avant le 15 Septembre 2013. |
